Google Cloud Enhances Blockchain RPC Support for Ethereum Network: Unveiling the Crucial Role of RPC in Cryptocurrency Transactions

Google Cloud Introduces Blockchain RPC Support for Ethereum Network

Google, the tech giant, has unveiled a new blockchain RPC service under its product Google Cloud. This launch aims to assist blockchain developers in rapidly constructing decentralized applications. The service is compatible with both the Ethereum mainnet and testnet, offering a free plan that includes up to 100 calls per second and a maximum of 1 million requests per day.

What Role Does RPC Play in Cryptocurrency Transactions?

RPC (Remote Procedure Call) is a computer communication protocol that allows programs to call other programs located on different computers or networks. In cryptocurrency transactions, RPC is crucial for communication between nodes or for interaction between users (such as Dapps) and nodes. Essentially, RPC simplifies network communication complexities, enabling developers to focus on core product development without delving into intricate network details.

Google Cloud’s Blockchain RPC Service for Ethereum

Google Cloud’s blockchain RPC service initially integrates with the Ethereum mainnet and testnet, supporting EIP-1474, which defines a set of RPC methods for Ethereum nodes. The service plans to expand to other blockchain networks in the coming year. It is fully compatible with Ethereum’s JSON-RPC standard, allowing developers to seamlessly integrate it into their applications with just a single line of code.

Current Features of Google Cloud’s RPC Service

At present, the RPC service is offered for free and includes the following key features:

  • Highly efficient, scalable, and reliable solutions based on Google’s infrastructure
  • Significantly reduced complexity in managing nodes
  • Seamless integration with Ethereum’s JSON-RPC standard
  • Support for up to 100 calls per second and 1 million requests per day

Google Cloud’s Ongoing Commitment to Blockchain Technologies

Since establishing its blockchain division in January 2022, Google Cloud has been actively deploying Web3 solutions. Later the same year, it launched the blockchain node engine, aimed at simplifying the operation of blockchain network nodes. In April 2023, Google Cloud initiated a Web3 boot camp program, with LayerZero, a cross-chain protocol, joining the initiative in September 2023 to serve as Google Cloud’s default oracle for verifying cross-blockchain transactions.

Moreover, in November 2023, Google Cloud, along with over 65 operators and independent participants, joined the EigenLayer Operators Working Group and operated nodes on the Goerli testnet to test its restaking protocol. The introduction of the blockchain RPC service further solidifies Google Cloud’s dedication to developing blockchain infrastructure.

In conclusion, Google Cloud’s foray into blockchain RPC services underscores its commitment to advancing blockchain technology and supporting developers in building decentralized applications efficiently.
